IKEA releases line-up of music, art and events for IKEA+ in Paris

From 29 February to 3 March, IKEA is coming to 28 Rue de Lappe close to Paris’s Bastille. Taking place during Paris Fashion Week, the exhibition IKEA+ is inspired by the fact that 48% of people globally do not feel that their life at home is represented in the media, an insight from the IKEA Life at Home Report.

“It has been a joy to work with Casa93, and to see the two worlds of fashion and interior design collide through a celebration of self-expression. From our Life at Home Report, we know that we are more likely to feel good about home when it reflects our personality. We hope to empower the younger generations to become the fashion stylists of the place they call home.”

– Lorenzo Meazza, Creative Leader for the collaboration with Casa93

The IKEA+ daily and nightly programme is centered around self-expression and representation, featuring collaborators from the worlds of music, art, fashion, design, and life at home.

With a vision to bring the rich Parisian music scene to IKEA+, IKEA has collaborated with online radio station Rinse. Recognised for spotting talent ahead of the curve and creating shifts in culture, Rinse has been transmitting uncompromising music since 1994. Over thirty music artists will play throughout the four days, including Andy4000, Anetha, Cyrus Goberville, Fiona, Kiddy Smile, Miley Serious, Djibril Cissé aka Tcheba and many more. IKEA will also unveil the TESAMMANS collection, a collaboration with Eindhoven-based design duo Raw Color, bringing forth an exploration of colour interactions and the emotional effects of colour in the home. Combining Raw Color’s unique design language with IKEA home furnishing expertise, TESAMMANS spotlights how colour can transform living spaces and emotions, with the aim of making more people discover the positive effects of colour in their homes.

IKEA+ will serve as a launchpad for rising talents. Six young designers from avant-garde fashion education programme, Casa93, will exhibit their work at the venue. Based in Seine-Saint-Denis, Casa93 is a programme which transcends traditional norms by offering a free education without any diploma requirements. Students Eva-Louisa N´kie, Gitroina Isaac, Ivann Halleur, Loan Bodin Buerger, Lorény Tanda and Raphale Nahon have worked with home furnishing mentors from IKEA to create six exhibitions focused on eco-design and upcycling. Lorenzo Meazza, Creative Leader for the collaboration says, “It has been a joy to work with Casa93, and to see the two worlds of fashion and interior design collide through a celebration of self-expression. From our Life at Home Report, we know that we are more likely to feel good about home when it reflects our personality. We hope to empower the younger generations to become the fashion stylists of the place they call home.”

For the foodies in Paris, the restaurant will offer a dining experience where French Bistro meets IKEA. Façon bourguignonne (aka Swedish Meatballs) and Plantdogs star on the menu, where visitors can opt for one of forty-eight seats, or, if they’re in a hurry, the Grab ‘n Go option.

Daily talks and workshops encouraging curiosity will take place at the venue featuring speakers like IKEA Designers Ida Pettersson Preutz & Henrik Preutz and 1 Granary founder, Olya Kuryshchuk and Copenhagen Fashion Week director, Isabella Rose.
