Circular Investments

Circular investments begin when a product’s life ends

Materials and ‘end-of-life’ products comprise about half of Ingka’s own carbon footprint. But the technologies and capacity needed to convert products into secondary, raw materials instead of being landfilled, do not exist at scale. This is preventing us from reaching our circular goals.

At Ingka, we have a responsibility and opportunity to find new ways of doing good business.  We need smarter solutions and more infrastructure to bring circularity to our everyday life.

“We want to work together to recycle as many end-of-life mattresses, plastics, and textiles as IKEA sells by FY30.”

Investment scope

We invest in companies that are developing technology or growing capacity to prevent waste or supply recycled materials to support IKEA’s circularity strategies. We focus on materials where recycling infrastructure capacity is lacking compared to other materials: mattresses, plastics, textiles, wood, and food.
